Sumario:The objective of this article is to analyze the political impact of the first phase that the Achaemenid expansion on Continental Hellas (513-449) had on the Greek world. A process that, together with a set of military campaigns, was mainly made up of the development of a diplomatic strategy of intervention through friendship agreements (xenía) with aristocratic families. These types of political practices were undertaken in the context of transition between the 6th and 5th century BC. that imply the ritual act of the delivery of land and water, and were registered by the Hellenic tradition as an act of submission to the Achaemenid power. The proposal is to analyze the scope of these diplomatic activities as part of a political strategy to build links in a frontier area of difficult logistical access for direct control of the Persian empire.
