Sumario:The period of the Uruk Expansion at the end of the 4th millennium BC, is usually connected with the appearance of the first state societies in southern Mesopotamia. In the Birecik-Carchemish area, in eastern Turkey, on the edge of the Middle Euphrates (northern Mesopotamia), various archaeological sites have been investigated, which present the immediate phases at the end of the expansion of the Uruk culture, as well as its epilogue, the Early Bronze period. We focus this study on the Surtepe site, a settlement of 8 ha, where we have documented this phase, and initial of Early Bronze 1, as well as in Tilbes Höyük and in Meteler/Tilvez Höyük.
