Sumario:In this article we start from the premise that supervision has been present since the origins of our profession. However, its objectives and components are not static, but rather lay the foundations of an exercise that has been modified in line with professional training, intervention and socio-historical transformations. We propose a historical review, trying out some answers as to why we continue to talk about supervision in Social Work, a question that runs through the article, searching in the traces of the past for the validity of the term and finding in the re-conceptualisation movement the legacy that is sustained in contemporary proposals.
