Taking as a starting point our territorial work with groups of young people from different neighborhoods, we will investigate from a mental health perspective the exposure of this population to situations of daily violence, placing the problem as an intersection of different dimensions that we will try to explore. We will analyze the relationships between some determinants in the subject who daily puts his life and freedom at risk. This analysis will serve as an input to think about how to build care practices. The historicization of public policies aimed at young men will allow us to situate them not as a mere context of the unique vicissitudes of young people, but as the foundations of social and institutional practices that from their effects have a structuring effect on subjectivity. En este artículo analizamos el modo en que ciertas prácticas institucionales determinan, junto a otras dimensiones, modalidades de sufrimiento subjetivo de los varones jóvenes de los sectores populares de la ciudad de Santa Fe. Tomando como punto de partida nuestro trabajo territorial con grupos de jóvenes de diferentes barrios, indagaremos desde una perspectiva de salud mental la exposición de dicha población a situaciones de violencia cotidiana, situando la problemática como una intersección de diferentes dimensiones que intentaremos explorar. Analizaremos las relaciones entre algunos determinantes en el sujeto que cotidianamente pone en riesgo su vida y su libertad. Ese análisis nos servirá como insumo para pensar cómo construir prácticas de cuidado. La historización de las políticas públicas dirigidas a los varones jóvenes, nos permitirá situarlas no como mero contexto de los avatares singulares de les jóvenes, sino como los fundamentos de las prácticas sociales e institucionales que desde sus efectos inciden de manera estructurante en la subjetividad.
