Sumario:The objective of this study is to understand the practices money management and decision-makingthat assume the woman heads of household of single-parent families considering scenarios of origin. The qualitative study is based on the approach of gender. The findings indicate that the consequences on women's lives depend on the type of house holdto which they belong, of the family of origin, cohabitation and presence or absence of a couple, in addition to the ways on how family life develops. However, what women get is more effective for its capacity of agency, despite the discomfort and the emotional anguish that generates them.
