| Sumario: | This paper explores the operation of the prison system in Argentina, to analyze the situation of women prisoners in general, and those who are in house arrest in particular. Through a qualitative methodology, will expose contributions of the Branch of Released of the Union of Workers of the Popular Economy (UTEP), who accompany women in home detention looking for improve their life and detention conditions. Some of the findings of this work are the sexist bias of Argentine criminal law, linked to the reproduction of gender stereotypes associated with care, and the relevance of the difficulties in accessing paid jobs for this population.
