Sumario:Prosser buttons are a particular type of industrial ceramic buttons with an commercial success around 1840-1950/1960, then plastic left them out of the market. Despite their ubiquity in19th century archaeological sites, in the literature they are mentioned just in quantitative or descriptive ways, without an informative consideration. A large quantity and variability of Prosser buttons were recovered from La Basurita (LB) archaeological site, the first municipal dum of Rosario city throughout the second half of the nineteenth century, presents a great that has made its analysis possible. From the previous analysis made for one of the authors in the frame of her degree thesis in Anthropology, in this work are presented the typologies of Prosser buttons from the LB site, and ii is introduced its potential as a chronological indicator of archaeological sites of the nineteenth century thanks both its limited and reliable starting chronology and commercial expansion.
