Sumario:The Sorrento station of the Santa Fe Railway was established in the early 1890s in the town of the same name, in the province of Santa Fe, Argentina. Its strategic location made it a vital interchange point within the railway network, part of a key hub north of the city of Rosario. Likewise, its selection as the operational centre of the Radical Revolution of 1905 symbolises the intersection between railway infrastructure and political activism in the early 20th century. The station was decommissioned from railway use, subsequently declared a Provincial Historical Monument in 1994 and, a year later, a Historical and Cultural Heritage Site of the city of Rosario. It was not until 2014 that a public tender was issued for the restoration of the station's interior and exterior; however, the building was demolished in 2022 despite the declaration and the failed tender. The aim of this article is to present its demolition as a case study of actions contrary to the laws that protect cultural property.
