Sumario:Gualilán, in the center of the Province of San Juan, Argentina, is a longitudinal valley in the Precordillera de San Juan. It constitutes an endorheic basin. It was a cattle ranch since the arrival of the Spanish conquest.From the beginning of the 19th century until the present, a small mountain sector located to the west of it was exploited intermittently, and by various actors, as a gold mine.This work consists of historical research. It serves as a support for the interpretation of the results of archaeological surveys and monitoring that have been carried out since 2004 in order to establish the chronology and authenticity of the remains of existing facilities.
