| Sumario: | The hypothesis is raised of the possible existence of a Pre-Columbian settlement in the place where Juan de Garay settled in 1580, and possibly Pedro de Mendoza before. Although a significant number of pre- and post-Hispanic objects have been found in the central and southern area of that enclosure, the state of destruction of the downtown city subsoil has made it almost impossible to find preserved contexts from that chronology.
