| Sumario: | The main purpose of this article is to summarize and present part of Argentinian socio-anthropological academic production on Islam and Muslim communities. It aims to provide a critical review of certain undergraduate and postgraduate anthropology theses and papers from a variety of researchers with different backgrounds or academic levels. It also highlights the main approaches and findings of these works in order to identify consolidated lines of research within the field and point out thematic and theoretical-methodological gaps. Becoming acquainted with the contributions made and identifying the current challenges offers a starting point in the recovery and construction of a local genealogy and agenda.
