description This paper presents an analysis of chronicles written by Linda Lindsay published in El Hogar between 1946 and 1955 which deals with a series of her touristic trips around the world. This work only includes those chronicles referring to tourism in the city of Mar del Plata (Argentina) and its aim is to understand different social practices in terms of leisure time in the emerging area of Playa Grande to interpret different habits and representations around corporality in this place. In this context, based on the idea that Playa Grande represents a social exclusive summer resort for the elite, the aim is to delve into which notions and representations of corporality were legitimated, as well as the practices and lifestyles that were promoted. With this purpose, we include chronicles of the printed press as a source of historical research and as a summary for the cultural study. The results of this research paper allow us to rethink habits, behaviors, trends, corporality and representations in the southern area of the city that were evident in the news press and to explore how these images drive consumption and imitation in the middle class in that historical moment.
