Moreover, we will reflect in three stages on the changes imposed by a process of globalization that would have made us think about the archaic or anachronistic character of the identity questions conveyed by means of the essay. Such questions did not only persist, but have evolved to a transnational position, in resonance with broader historical-cultural dynamics and progressively critical of globalization. A partir de los ensayos de Alberto Fuguet (1964), Leonardo Valencia (1969), y, finalmente, Roberto Bolaño (1953-2003), se reflexionará acerca de la situación actual del género ensayístico en estrecha relación con cambios de paradigmas desencadenados con el periodo que muchos denominaron “fin de la historia”. En este sentido, se caracterizará la dinámica rupturista coincidente con el nuevo milenio. Por otro lado, se reflexionará en tres tiempos acerca de los cambios que impone un proceso de globalización que habría hecho pensar en el carácter vetusto o anacrónico de los cuestionamientos identitarios vehiculados por medio del ensayo. Tal y como se verá, dichos cuestionamientos no solo persisten, sino que han ido evolucionando hasta una posición transnacional, en resonancia con dinámicas histórico-culturales más vastas y progresivamente críticas con la globalización.
