| Sumario: | The issue of Introduction à la littérature fantastique de Tzvetan Todorov in 1970 created a large interest among the experts on latin-american literature; the most known reaction was the critic view of Ana María Barrenechea, who proposed a new conceptualisation of the genre based of a diferent corpus. In this paper we intend to contextualize the theoretical problems of both proposals, to study the uses of the concepts of 'genre' and of 'fantastic' they are engaged in. Although Todorov and Barrenechea have diferent aims, they share a method, and both consider the fantastic as a genre able to concentrate a theoretical debate about literature. |
