| Sumario: | The rational choice approach is only one of several competing approaches and theories that attempt to untangle the social puzzle. This approach has made significant advances in political science and sociology. Like any approach or theory, rational choice tends to highlight some aspects of reality and obscure others. The main criticisms of this approach point out that it is ahistorical, that it neglects culture and structures, that it focuses excessively in theoretical progress, and that it attributes excessive rational capacity to the actors. Because this approach remains one of the most influential perspectives in social sciences, the fourth issue of RELASP aims to renew the discussion on research inspired by rational choice. |
