| Sumario: | This article aims, in the first place, to reflect on the subjective consequences of social media participation in the construction of narcissism among users, particularly young people. It then addresses, from a psychoanalytic perspective, a theoretical and clinical reading of the function of controlled and deliberate self-inflicted cuts on the skin by adolescents, which are circulated by the same subjects on social media. The treatment of the problem of self-harm during the transition through adolescence revolves around the function of cutting the skin woven into the vicissitudes of narcissism, the fantasy and the identification processes put into play in the contagion effects of cutting practices. As for the theoretical-conceptual hypothesis verified in the clinical field, it maintains that skin cuts are linked to the precariousness of symbolic resources and the weakening of the rituals of passage that we witness in our culture. Furthermore, these cuts operate during adolescence as a self-treatment of the regulation of enjoyment and, as it is a temporary practice, it is destined to disappear |
