Sumario:The present writing intends to investigate the function of the other woman in hysteria and femininity. For this, at first, it tries to specify the kind of relationship that a woman establishes with her other (love or jealousy, object identification or choice) considering the freudian casuistry to, in a second time, determine what place this other has in the erotic economy of a woman in her encounter with the desire of a man. Following this same line of research, treatment is given to the different versions of the other woman in their articulation with the unique oedipal trajectory of the girl. Finally, the writing relates the mediating construction of the other woman with the lack of a signifier proper to the feminine and the highlights the necessary relationship with that other in the turn towards femininity.
