Based on the trajectory of different authors a theorization of the theme is attempted, especially considering metaphysics aspects that allow to establish the difference between the night-mare and the dream. Taking up a constellation of concepts from the navel of the dream to the sinister and pain, a reading horizon is created and both theoretical and clinical aspects are taken into account. En este trabajo, se retoma un tema que es explorado desde una perspectiva psicoanalítica, artística y literaria, en donde se entremezclan la tradición médica y la tradición popular. A partir del recorrido de diferentes autores se intenta una posible teorización de la temática, sobre todo teniendo en cuenta aspectos metapsicológicos que permitan establecer diferencias entre la pesadilla y el sueño. Retomando una constelación de conceptos que va del ombligo del sueño, lo siniestro hasta el dolor se intenta crear un horizonte de lectura que recorra tanto lo teórico como lo clínico.
