Sumario:This paper proposes an analysis of the political discourse of Cristina Fernández de Kirchner and Mauricio Macri around the issue of external debt. The process that ranges from the external deleveraging initiated by Néstor Kirchner and the return to the International Monetary Fund in the Alianza Cambiemos administration, the external debt has become a discursive element that exposes the complexity of the actors' positions. In this sense, the discursive presentations of the foreign debt are conceived as a mechanism for the construction of common meanings, representations, and historical belongings, as well as conceptions around foreign policy and the role of Argentina in the international scenario.
