Sumario:The purpose of this article is to present some theoretical assumptions in the current debates in the discipline of International Relations, concerning world peace and studies for the resolution of international disputes and conflicts. The starting point will be an approximation to the historical evolution, the antecedents, origins and precursors on the practice and the studies about conflict resolution. Then we will describe actual tendencies on the current international system that can empirically support  studies and debates on this study field. Finally, the author is going to focus on the current debates on the issue of conflict and resolution, and attempt to make a theoretical link between Constructivism in international relations and conflict resolution.
