Sumario:This article aims to explore how sociocultural and historical aspects have led to the emergence of pejorative language that embodies distrust and suspicion. Through a critical analysis of historical, social and linguistic factors, the aim has been to deepen the understanding of these dynamics and their implications for social relations and the construction of identity in Chile. To this end, key aspects such as historical heritage, social inequality, individualism and distrust of institutions have been addressed, in addition to describing the challenges of how this phenomenon is reflected in Chilean speech through: phrases, idioms, dysphemisms, proverbs, among others. There is a large collection of lexical units that respond to these social and historical dynamics, in addition to opening up hypotheses and new research.
