| Sumario: | The coup d'état of September 1955 was the most visible event in the process of political and social conflict that took place during the second presidency of Juan Domingo Perón. One of the characteristics of this stage was the incorporation of the Catholic Church into the anti-Peronist sector, which gave political parties an important legitimizing element, broadening the bases of the opposition. From then on, the episodes of violence multiplied and the conspiratorial planes accelerated. The escalation of conflicts was punctuated by conciliation measures tested by the government in order to decompress the tension and prevent the sharpening of the political confrontation. In this article we explore this dynamic by analyzing the last years of the Peronist government in Chaco -called then "President Perón" province- taking into account the particularities of this space, where Peronism had built a hegemonic force and exhibited a strong trade union imprint, as well as close Links with the Catholic Church. |
