Sumario:The text presented here aims to discuss the category of internal exile as a historical and discursive event, experienced by women in times of dictatorial governments in Brazil. As a corpus of analysis, we worked with the oral narratives presented in the book "Memoirs of Women in Exile" published in 1980. Methodologically, the work was developed in the interlocution of Discourse Analysis and Social History, enabling a better understanding of the functioning of memory and its meanings. To carry out this study, we understand discourse as the word in movement, as a socio-historical space, a space of struggle and resistance. The analyses carried out indicate that the internal exile was an event permeated with many memories and stories, experienced in different ways by each narrator, but which bear the marks of silence, of the body pains, and of the loss of identity.
