Sumario:This paper, an academic essay, is born out of a discomfort with the low epistemological diversity of Brazilian radio studies, especially with regard to issues of race and intersectionality. In it, we discuss what is understood by plural epistemologies and how this epistemological diversity can help to understand radio from a multiple perspective. In particular, we discuss issues of race and how they affect the understanding of radio studies. We advocate taking a stand and breaking the narcissistic pact, recognizing the impacts of eurocentric perspectives and the daily violence of the academic world on the consolidation of a singular vision of the phenomenon we study.
