| Sumario: | Within the framework of social sciences, environmental issues emerge as political problems and matters of public concern. Sincethe early 2000s, environmental struggles in Latin America have gained visibility in media and political agendas, driven by socialcollectives that have succeeded in positioning environmental conflicts in public debate. In this process, certain cases haveachieved significant media impact, highlighting the central role of mass media in constructing the conflict. However, in today’scontext—marked by the expansion of digital media and changing dynamics of meaning circulation—the public sphere has becomemore complex and heterogeneous. This article analyzes the construction of environmental conflict through contemporaryapproaches to mediatization and circulation, focusing on the discursive and media dimensions of environmental issues.Drawing on two specific cases, it explores how social actors produce discourse, construct narratives, and deploy strategiesin a media landscape no longer dominated solely by traditional media. In doing so, it reveals how contemporary environmentalstruggles combine both digital and physical forms of activism, reshaping political participation and amplifying visibility ofenvironmental concerns from the ground up. |
