Sumario:Causas y Azares was an academic journal published by teachers and researchers linked to the Communication Sciences Department of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Buenos Aires. It circulated in the 90s and above all directed its investigations to contributions linked to the knowledge of Communication and Culture. In this article we will take it as an object of study, understanding it as discursive material actually produced and resulting from multiple and complex processes that can be focused on from the history of the science of Communication and Culture in Argentina, more specifically in studies on reception. In this direction, we will propose to advance the ways in which said journal is discursively established in relation to its previous traditions in the aforementioned field of studies. We understand that this recovery of tradition is not only present in the published articles, but in the name and slogan of the journal, in the design and fundamentally in the interviews, reviewsand translations of the seven published issues.
