Sumario:Postulated in the presidential campaign of 2015, the promise to “defeat drug trafficking” constituted one of the axes of the government of Mauricio Macri, positioning itself as a central problem in the security agenda of Cambiemos. The implementation of the “Safe Neighborhoods Program” in Barrio Padre Carlos Mugica since April 2016 was a first step in that direction. This policy involved the intervention of the federal security forces, under the coordination of the Ministry of National Security, in one of the territories considered “highly dangerous” by the official discourse. This paper seeks to analyze the political-media discourse regarding the implementation of this program in Barrio Mugica. Particularly, it seeks to examine how the newspaper La Nación and the government of Cambiemos represent the role of security forces in the fight against drug trafficking in this territory. For this, we study the news and the official communications published in the period 2016-2017 by this media, in its online version, and by the Ministry of Security, in its various digital platforms.
