Sumario:The article aims to analyze the winning works of the Adelmo Genro Filho Award in the Scientific Initiation category and raise the profile of the winners. Considering that the award recognizes research that contributes to the Journalism field and values the work of researchers, we are interested in identifying aspects that represent scientific initiation and graduation. We used Content Analysis to categorize the 23 works that received the main award and honorable mention in the category in question, between 2010 and 2020. To define the profile of who won, we applied a questionnaire. The results indicate that the qualitative approach and content analysis predominate in the methodology, with emphasis on traditional newspapers as the object of study. Among the winners, those who participated in a research group and/or received a scientific initiation scholarship tend to enter more into graduate studies.
