Sumario:This paper aims discuss and problematize the reception of two important São Paulo’s newspaper - Folha de S. Paulo and O Estado de São Paulo - the civil military coup in 1964. Editorials analyzed and linked to the new political developments materials with emphasis in April 1964 also treat the "celebration" or "remembrance" brought out in 2014. Finally point out as the disclaimers made by two newspapers are full of subterfuge that aimed justifying the support of these newspapers to the coup that overthrew President João Goulart.
