In order to accomplish this, it becomes necessary to explain what is meant by “unidad fraseológica” and wich are the antecedents in the study of this discipline. Then, based on the described characteristics, is provided the analysis of the selection of phrases made, from different levels: historical, cultural, grammatical, and lexical. This treatment allows to reveal its old record in the literature and its variations over time. El objetivo del presente artículo es realizar el recorrido histórico de algunas unidades fraseológicas que son registradas como voces “rioplatenses” en el Diccionario del español del Uruguay (DeU). Para ello, se vuelve necesario explicar qué se entiende por “unidad fraseológica” y cuáles son los antecedentes en el estudio de esta disciplina. Luego, a partir de las características descritas, se aporta el análisis de la selección de frases realizada, desde distintos niveles: histórico, cultural, gramatical y léxico. Este tratamiento permite revelar su antiguo registro en la literatura y sus variaciones a lo largo del tiempo.
