| Sumario: | This article addresses the personal archive development process of the architect José Ignacio Togo Díaz (1927–2009) in Córdoba, Argentina, from two central questions. The first one concerns the constitution of the archive, its organization and documentary processing; this includes physical support, inventories, and applicable archival standards. The second one focuses on the archive dissemination through information and communication technologies (ICTs), in particular, the development of a digital platform to expand the access to the collection as well as its circulation.
The archive does not represent a mere technical conservation operation, rather, it reflects a broad field of tensions between memory and oblivion, patrimonialization and real estate market forces, critical research and institutional resources limitations. The preservation of hand-drawn plans in times of hyper virtuality exposes these contradictions revealing both their power to interrogate the discipline and the limits imposed by a lack of resources and certain cultural indifference. Within this framework, the experience developed at Blas Pascal University since 2015 has articulated systematization, research, and ICTs configuring the archive not as a neutral repository but as an active space where the meanings of architecture and its recent history are contested. |
