Sumario:In Quebrada de Humahuaca, Jujuy, there is an assumed common sense associated with the use of  "earth colour" in constructions. For this reason, we propose to explore -through ethnographic tools- the way in which this idea was set; we take as the starting point the pictorial creation and its approach to cultural and natural aspects by means of a palette of warm colours. This aesthetic proposal was developed hand in hand with a process of heritage valuation emphasizing historical constructions with a strong presence of adobe. Thus, it is interesting to note how the patrimonialisation process of the region was articulated with tourism growth enhancing the creation of a cultural landscape. According to this framework, adobe’s colour was configured as a condenser of positive meanings and values, to the point of becoming a regulatory criterion in the form of municipal regulations. However, the article proposes to distinguish other current ways of using colour which are derived from the logic of harmony and preservation associated with adobe’s colour. The use of vibrant and contrasting tones with the surrounding environment leads us to think of Quebrada de Humahuaca landscape not as a linear continuum but as a process with continuities, discontinuities and overlaps.
