We are interested in highlighting the role of Lúcio Costa as principal of the National School of Fine Arts, in 1930, usually considered, in historiography, one of the fundamental precedents for the constitution of the carioca school which, until the ultimate event of Brasilia, will be assimilated to the idea of a modern Brazilian architecture and, two decades later, the so-called 1962 Reform  in the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of São Paulo that will mark the consolidation of the leadership of Vilanova Artigas and the emergence of the so-called paulista school or paulista brutalism.
