Sumario:This article deals with the ways in which political, economic, productive, and technological aspects impact on the composition of the Argentine Republic´s exports of Manufactures of Industrial Origin (MIO), where design and innovation are vectors of value enhancement. Globalization and Industry 4.0 categories are central for understanding the current productive paradigm, they not only define it but also turn it into a major transformation process. The approach to this phenomenon ranges from its general to particular dimensions, it is based on the relation that the main economic theories have with the contemporary global geopolitical context, the Argentine export structure, and Argentine exports cases in which design has bolstered the use of digital technologies characterizing Industry. 4.0.
