| Sumario: | This project examines the process of monopolization of
mass media in Rosario since 1997 with the arrival of Group
One. Since then, the city, inhabited by one and a half million
people, has a dozen media companys centralized by the
Mendoza media firm. This situation, wich is closely related
to political and economic power, it generate a tension with
freedom of speech, plurality of voices and the right of learn of
an entire population. Althoug the phenomenon of concentration of ownership of media is not new, the process has exacerbated in the last two decades of the twentieth century and
early twenty-first century. In that sense, the debate between
the centralization of media ownership and how it affects the
diversity and plurality of information-and thus to freedom of
expression, a fundamental right in all the universal declarations, is a current discussion between those who believe the
concentration is critical as those who extol its benefits. |
