description	The present work is an analysis of the advances in relation to an innovative theme in International Relations: the international actions of cities. It raises an alternative and critical view of the dominant mainstream and investigates regional and national progress, proposing an approach anchored in the Argentine context.In principle, the article focuses on the emergence of this issue and the role that cities have acquired on the international scene. Subsequently, the conceptualizations and definitions developed by the academics are analyzed, raising the preponderance of the concept of paradiplomacy and establishing a different and local perspective. Then, it explores the performance of cities, understood as key actors in the national and international scene, and the implementation of internationalization is analyzed, considering that the strategies are formulated through a process of social construction with the aim of benefiting from the context and resources, highlighting that at the beginning of the 21st century they are carried out in order to capture opportunities in the territory through exchanges with other actors in the region. In this sense, the article tries to be a trigger to compare the realities of the Latin American region, and of Argentina in particular, with other parts of the world.
