Sumario:This paper rescues the public career of Francisco José Trianes (1894-1981), a lawyer of an immigrant family linked to vitiviniculture that was politically affiliated to "lencinismo", reaching diferent positions in the civil service in the 1920s. In the line of government agencies´studies, the work focuses on Trianes´ contribution to the professionalization of the state in general and the improvement of mendocinian vitiviniculture in particular, by addressing its management as chief of the "Dirección General de Industrias" (provincial government agency, responsible for ensuring the observance of the winemaking laws in Mendoza), between 1923 and 1924. It tries to show that -although his profession was not directly linked to the sphere of action of the agency-, his expertise and his family trajectory - along with his political career- allowed him to participate protagonically in the formulation of diagnoses and measures that are framed in the viticultural control policies -in force since the beginning of the century- and in the conjunctural needs of the final phase of the second government of the "lencinismo".
