| Sumario: | This essay unfolds problematics and experiences of the academic work in pandemic, related to the institutions that define the production of scientific knowledge, the access to research materials such as books or the participation in virtual events. The chosen case is the presentation of the book “The New Latin America” by Fernando Calderón and Manuel Castells, held via Zoom in December, 2020, organized by a new Latinx and Latin American Studies Center of the University of South California, United States. In addition, questions are raised about how Latin America is studied as a cohesive analytical unit which is constantly changing. |
