| Sumario: | This study examines factors that converge in the gender inequality of the pension system that are part of the mandatory social security in Mexico. An analysis of women’s labor and demographic aspects is presented, as well as the prevalence of traditional gender roles that influence the accumulation of capital necessary for the financing of social security pensions. It is concluded that, with the design of the current system, gender differences are not mitigated, therefore, most women will not be able to receive in their own right a sufficient pension. |
