| Sumario: | This article proposes analyzing the symbolic representations that were made in the Chilean theatre scene during the dictatorship, through the play El Último Tren (1978) by Compañía Teatro Imagen. This play addresses the State’s railways privatization process, which was caused by the arrival of the new neoliberal economic model, and how it affected railway families. This study was made under the historiographic perspective of the New Cultural History approach. Hence, this study focuses on researching the company’s history, the development of its theatrical production, and the reception it had during that time. Ultimately, a textual analysis is presented, which consists of a selection and commentary on specific passages in the play. The purpose of this analysis is to identify the imagery and symbolic representations that the authors meant to convey during the dictatorship. |
