| Sumario: | Explore the hydroclimatic variability of a region provides information for water resources management improving water security in the communities involved. The aim is to identify modes of variability and the relationship between time series of precipitation, temperature and annual mean flows for the last 60years of some basins in the Cuyo region. Trend, jump and periodicity tests were carried out. The results, in general terms, show that rainfall and flows tend to decrease and present significant cycles of high and low frequency. On the contrary, the temperature shows an increasing trend associated with increases in the 80s, the periods with the greatest intensity are those presented on an inter-annual scale. These results provide information for understanding the relationships between the patterns of hydroclimatic variability and the exchanges between the various components of thehydrological cycle in Central-Western Argentina, which allows better decisionmaking. |
