description The article presents a critical-deconstructive reading of the “repentant” criminal figure of Argentine law from its incorporation into law 27,304 in 2016 during the neoliberal management of the Alianza Cambiemos. Repentance, as political affection, can be read as a government technology that produces an enunciative place in someone who, having been a criminal agent, is supposed to later collaborate with the law. Using elements from the work of Spinoza and Derrida, we decompose this affect within the framework of the classic ethical-political question: Why do people choose submission as if it were freedom? The aporias of responsibility that are played out in this cultural figure expanded by recent legal discourse, open the possibility of rethinking a repentance of an inverse sign, a political passion capable of repairing the inseparable cruelty of all sovereignty and of interrupting the cycle of micropolitics of the sadness.
