description The article presents an agenda of reflections and general guidelines -considering a brief selection of recent studies of the authors and of other colleagues- on the exercise of judicial and legislative functions, with the intention to contribute to a historical restitution of state institutionalization process during 1850s and 1860s in Argentine. We propose a particular perspective on the administrative activity, considering an approach to these functions in terms of public administration as a political practice, the agents that integrated it, and the dynamics and materiality in which it was developed.
