Sumario:Since its inception, studies on art and society are being themed from different perspectives and disciplines that have provided valuable contributions that shape plural views. The artists and their productions in our continent, traditions and ruptures can make art a fruitful object to produce knowledge about society in the Latin American context. The contribution from sociology as a social science key to our contemporary times, can contribute to the construction of new perspectives and treatments of Latin American art as part of social processes. With the intention of supporting this development, we propose a tour of the foundational works of sociology of art, from a dialogue between corpuses produced by neighboring disciplines and with the Social Theory of Latin American Art, to form an agenda of issues and literature from a sociological perspective on art.
