Sumario:This article discusses the importance of incorporating accessibility features in virtual environments of higher education institutions. In this sense, it states that the transversalization of accessibility is the fundamental principle that should underpin the creation and management of policies for higher education. It addresses the concept of web accessibility emphasizing the importance of incorporating it into the virtual environments for higher education institutions as a condition to achieve the expansion goals of equity and access to higher education. And in turn, strengthen the institutional processes of democratization of knowledge and information.
