Mirta Arlt fue la primera lectora y correctora de la obra de su padre y luego su albacea. Ella misma escritora (Premio Municipal de Novela, 1970) fue también docente en la UBA e investigadora y crítica teatral. En sus últimos años preparaba un libro (Arlt por Arlt) sobre su padre y, en entrevista de La Nación (9/12/ 2012), explicaba: Three perspectives, three readings, three times, from Córdoba, celebrate the work of Roberto Arlt and its remarkable relevance in our time: that of his daughter Mirta (Cosquín, 1923), an English translator and professor of language and literature at the then Escuela de Lenguas [School of Languages] at the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba (UNC). Mirta Arlt was the first reader and proofreader of her father's work and later his executor. A writer herself (Premio Municipal de Novela [Municipal Novel Prize], 1970), she was also a professor at the Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA), a researcher, and a theater critic.
