| Sumario: | The paper presents the social, economic and environmental context in which the National University of Chilecito is founded and the historical, political and cultural process that motivated its creation. Located this public university in the City of Chilecito -of the order of 35,000 inhabitants, in the Famatina Valley, west of the Capital City of the Province of La Rioja. This paper analyzes the development of the University’s linkage process with the productive sectors of the region, a region characterized strongly as an "oasis of fruit production and primary value added". A model is proposed to describe, characterize and analyze opportunities and challenges that were presented in the link of the University with the social and production sectors, from which potentially valid apprenticeships can be concluded for other young national and Latin American universities that share similar characteristics in terms of size, geographical location, detachment from hegemonic urban centers of regional or national power, productive socio-economic activities, among other dimensions. |
