Sumario:The internationalization of research is a concept increasingly present in the educational policies, practices and processes of Higher Education Institutions (HEI). In the academic field, internationalization includes any process of integrating an international or intercultural dimension to teaching, research and service functions. The aim of this paper is to describe an experience of institutional management of the internationalization of scientific research. To this end, after reviewing previous literature, we will present the work of the Office of International Projects (OPI) of the Vice-Presidency of Research and Graduate Studies of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (PUCV) focusing on three dimensions: its organic structure, the tasks developed, and the results obtained. The writing of this article, however, has been conditioned by the COVID-19 pandemic, so we have considered relevant to rethink these three dimensions of the management of the internationalization of the OPI in order to address, from a continuous reflection, the challenges of an increasingly contingent present and future.
