| Sumario: | The present research aims to identify, through Historical Geography and Territorial Debates, the historical-geographical causes behind the peasant land seizures in the Fincas de Palmar Sur de Osa. These Fincas were part of a Banana District, which played a role in the agro-industrial banana production of the Compañía Bananera de Costa Rica (CBCR), a subsidiary of the United Fruit Company. When the CBCR withdrew from the southern region of the country in 1984, it triggered a series of territorial and productive processes that are necessary to understand, to uncover the clues behind the peasant territorial project that persists in the Fincas. This article was developed through a qualitative research approach, which relied on documentary review, conducting interviews with keysocial actors, and fieldwork. These methods were employed to identify four key productive moments aimed at understanding the territorial transformations within the study area. |
