Sumario:This article was originally submitted for publication to the Revista del Instituto de Antropología (UNC) in the 1970s. Since the publication ceased to circulate years ago and that the Institute was dissolved, we have decided to save from the archives some contributions for reasons beyond the authors have been yet published. The draft of this article together with the Institute of Anthropology file now comprise part of the archives of the Museum of Anthropology (FFyH, UNC). To make it accessible to a much wider audience this unpublished information was selected. In this second volume of the Revista del Museo de Antropología we present this paper that provides an overview of the work carried out between late 1960 and early 1970 of a vast area of the province of Santiago del Estero, focusing on occupations ascribed to the Lower Formative Period. It offers the characterization of several sites and the remains found in them.
